We work with selected production partners that we have trusted for many years. Personal contact and close dialogue are particularly important to us. We exert our influence through regular on-site visits. As a reliable client, we advocate salaries above the minimum wage and promote additional voluntary social benefits such as free medical care or transport to and from work.
OUR MOST IMPORTANT LOCATION: TURKEY
We have been producing high-quality textiles in Turkey for more than 25 years. Around 40% of our total production is manufactured on the European side of the Bosporus by our long-standing partner near Istanbul. Decades of loyalty to one and the same production partner is a matter of course for us. Continuity ensures quality. 80% of the employees at the plant near Istanbul have been with the company for 5 to 12 years. Everyone is an expert in their field. Sewing takes place at modern, air-conditioned workstations. Our partner's voluntary social benefits include a shuttle bus service and a free daily lunch in the company canteen.
CAN TEXTILES BE PRODUCED IN BANGLADESH WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE?
Yes, you can! We have been doing this since 1999 and have also found a production partner here that works according to our values and principles. In Bangladesh, it is particularly important for a textile company to set a good example. We take our responsibility very seriously and thus make a contribution to the development of the country and to improving the living conditions of many people.
For this reason, we produce in Bangladesh in accordance with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the world's leading standard for the processing of textiles made from organically produced natural fibres. It defines environmental requirements along the entire textile production chain and social criteria that must be met.
LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIPS IN LAOS
The long-term collaboration with our two production partners in Laos began in 2011 and 2012. Two committed textile companies that have built up exemplary operations in Vientiane. We have fleece products as well as shirts and blouses manufactured there. The companies offer their employees payment above the minimum wage and numerous voluntary social benefits such as a company canteen, a company doctor and training programmes. We visit our production partners in Laos at least once a year to support them in implementing good social and ecological working conditions.
LONG-TERM PARTNERS ALSO IN CHINA
Part of our collection is produced in China. We have established long-term partnerships with three textile companies here. Outdoor jackets are manufactured for us in Dongguan and Xiamen, while a company in Shenzen produces high-quality knitwear for us. The basis for the partnerships is the recognition of the amorfi BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) code of conduct, which has been verified by certificates and independent audits. In addition, we visit the factories at least once a year to gain our own impression of compliance with the standards and are committed to improving social and ecological working conditions.
THE PLUS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES: HAKRO CARES
We want to give the people in our partner companies more than just a secure job. The HAKRO CARES initiative was born out of this desire. A motto and a promise. HAKRO CARES finances voluntary social benefits provided by our production partners for their employees, such as food donations for the Islamic festival of Eid ul adha or vaccinations as well as regular medical consultations.
SAFETY HAS TOP PRIORITY
Every fifth employee at our partner company in Dhaka specialises in fire safety or first aid. An external company with experienced specialists was engaged to train the staff. The business premises meet the latest requirements in terms of fire protection and building safety. Emergency drills are carried out regularly and the evacuation of the entire building is practised. All areas are equipped with fire safety equipment and first aid boxes, which are regularly checked, maintained and replaced. 20 % of all employees at our partner company in Dhaka are trained as fire fighters or first aiders.
